Ingredients:
For the Streusel Topping:
1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup rolled oats
3 tbsp brown sugar
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground cardamom
1/4 tsp kosher salt
4 tbsp unsalted butter, cold and cubed
For the Apple Filling:
3 cups sliced apples (from 4-5 small apples)
1/4 cup granulated sugar
juice of one small lemon
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
8 hamburger buns
2/3 cup milk of choice
1/2 cup caramel sauce, store bought or homemade
vanilla ice cream, for serving
Instructions:
To make the Streusel:
1. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, cardamom, and salt. Mix on low speed for 20 - 30 seconds, just until well-combined. Add the cold butter cubes and mix on medium speed for 2 - 3 minutes, until butter is evenly distributed and completely incorporated. Mixture should be crumbly. Place in refrigerator to chill while you prep the rest of the ingredients.
1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
2. Place sliced apples, sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon in a large mixing bowl. Stir to combine and then transfer filling to a 9" round baking dish.
3. In a medium bowl, whisk together Sylvia's Peach Cobbler Mix and milk until batter is smooth. Pour the batter over the top of the apple filling.
4. Sprinkle streusel over the top of the cobbler in an even layer and bake for 30 - 35 minutes, until topping is golden brown, apples are bubbly, and cake is completely set.
5. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Serve warm, drizzle with caramel and with a scoop of ice cream.
